Praise and Worship

Sunday and Wednesday Evening Sessions: Evening sessions begin with large group Praise and Worship. During this time, all members of LIFE programs join together in the sanctuary to celebrate with songs and entertaining activities such as skits and game shows through which participants will be introduced to the topic of the evening.

House Time

Following Praise and Worship, the ninth and tenth graders will go to their respective confirmation class, while the eleventh and twelfth graders go to a separate space to learn about issues affecting their lives.

Parental Expectations

Parents, please carefully read the following list of expectations.

Mass

Sunday Mass is the source and summit of our Catholic life. It is expected that families participating in LIFE will make every effort to attend mass weekly.

Praise and Worship

All youth, sixth through eighth grade, need to be accompanied by an adult during Praise and Worship.

Volunteering

Without parent participation, St. Michael’s will not be able to provide and maintain faith formation programs for our youth. Therefore, it is expected that all parents will volunteer in some capacity. See “Volunteer Opportunities.”

Adult Programs

Parents are strongly encouraged to check-out the faith formation opportunities that are available for them during their children’s House time.

Attendance

The Catholic Church is a Church of community. By participating in L.I.F.E. programs, children learn how to share their faith and support each other in living out God’s word. Therefore, it is very important for your child to honor their commitment to their house by attending regularly. Especially in the 9 th and 10 th grades as students prepare for Confirmation, it is vital that they are present for class. Only 4 absences each year will be allowed before the student will have to repeat the class. Please notify Cari in advance if your student will miss on a given night.

If an absence cannot be avoided, please let us know. Advanced notice can be given to your child’s House Parent or the parish office during regular business hours. Last minute absences can be reported to Cari.

L.I.F.E - What is Whole Community Catechesis?

What is Whole Community Catechesis?

Whole Community Catechesis is a term that includes all of the components of the vision and mission of the formation process here at St. Michael's Parish. This process begins at birth and ends with death. The main objective is to bring all that participate into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

This is accomplished through prayer and worship opportunities, interaction with others (both peer and intergenerational opportunities), awakening the awareness of the need to reach out beyond oneself and immediate community and instruction in the basic teachings of the Catholic faith, which flow, from Scripture and Traditions.
