Don’t have time to feed the kids between work and LIFE?  Once again we will be offering a light meal for purchase before each evening session.  This will be served in the social hall.  Join us for good food and conversation.

LIFE JAM

Sunday and Wednesday at 6:00 PM

We are excited to introduce the all new LIFE JAM! to our Sunday and Wednesday sessions.  After listening to your input and feedback, we've decided to revamp Praise and Worship and replace it with a shortened, more youth friendly time of gathering that we called LIFE JAM!  During these 20 minutes, all members of LIFE (yes, including parents) join together to  witness to each other in their exciting adventure in learning.  This time will consist of music as well as relevant information about the evening's topic.  Activities will range from guest speakers to popular game shows like Jeopardy, introduction to prayer as well as family activities.  Make sure to attend and contribute your energy to the growing dynamic of the LIFE program.

PS.  Parents, yes you do need to participate.  Not only do you mentor your own and other's children by your example, but we are concerned with your child's safety.  During this time, we have a very limited ability of monitoring individuals.  In our endeavor to provide a safe and secure environment for all, we do need you to attend.

House Time

Following LIFE JAM, children, youth and adults will break out into age-leveled groups.  For more information, go back to the main page and click on the appropriate age range.

Parental Expectations

Parents, please carefully read the following list of expectations.

Mass

Sunday Mass is the source and summit of our Catholic life. It is expected that families participating in LIFE will make every effort to attend mass weekly.

LIFE JAM

All children, Pre-K through 5th grade, need to be accompanied by an adult during LIFE JAM.

House Time Drop-Off

Parents, or another authorized adult, are required to accompany their children, Pre-K through 5th grade, to their House and sign them in.

House Time Pick-Up

Children, Pre-K through 5th grade will not be allowed to leave their House until they are picked-up by a parent or another authorized adult.

Volunteering

Without parent participation, St. Michael’s will not be able to provide and maintain faith formation programs for our children.  Therefore, it is expected that all parents will volunteer in some capacity.

Attendance Policy

The Catholic Church is a Church of community. By participating in L.I.F.E. programs, children learn how to share their faith and support each other in living out God’s word. Therefore, it is very important for your child to honor their commitment to their house by attending regularly.

Image Use

From time to time, St. Michael’s may use a family’s or child’s picture for the purpose of “showing” the public what we are about. The pictures may be published in the community or local newspapers, the parish newsletter, the parish web site or at other various events.

The policy that we adhere to is as follows:

  • We will not associate any identifying information (last name, etc) with any image.
  • We will not publish an image of a single minor.
  • We will not use any image for any profit making, or political purposes.
  • We will not give or sell an image to any other organization.

Protection of Children and Youth Initiative

The staff at St. Michael’s is dedicated to providing a safe environment for all children participating in L.I.F.E. programs. In response to “The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young Adults” published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the following procedures and programs have been implemented.

Adults - All adults who work with youth on a regular basis are required to complete a back-ground check and sign a “Code of Conduct” drafted by the St. Paul and Minneapolis Archdiocese as well as complete training which assists in identifying those who would seek to harm our children.  At no time will an adult be allowed to be isolated in a one-on-one situation with a child.

Children – Children will discuss the importance of personal safety with their parents and leaders at specified sessions. This information includes both proper and improper touch, and healthy and unhealthy relationships.
