Liturgical Ministry
Seasonal Planners
Persons involved with this ministry assist in planning and implementing the decorations for various liturgical seasons. Not only does this ministry provide a warm and inviting environment for our liturgies but the results of this groups planning helps us to enter more deeply into the season.
Eucharistic Ministers
This ministry extends the spirit of communion by assisting in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ. Potential ministers receive training and on going support for their ministry. Serving one another as a minister of Communion is a ministry for every adult member of the community.
Greeters: Ministers of Hospitality
This group of ministers welcomes all who come through the doors of St. Michael's. They extend hospitality through their greeting of both parishioners and visitors who come for worship.
Lectors
The Lector proclaims the Scripture during the liturgy. They are skilled public speakers and story tellers who draw the community into active listening to the Word of God. After receiving formation for this ministry, lectors also prayerfully prepare the readings for an enthusiastic presentation to the assembly. High school students are welcome to serve in this ministry.
Sacristans
Sacristans are responsible for preparing for worship. They ensure that the plates, cups, bread and wine, linens and other items used for mass are in their proper place before mass begins. Sacristans also see that the items used for mass are properly cleaned and prepared for the next liturgy.
Wedding Coordinators
These persons facilitate the rehearsal and are present on the day of the wedding to ensure that all goes smoothly. Training and ongoing support is provided as well as a modest stipend.
Servers
Altar servers have an important function in that they model, through their reverence and prayerful attitude, for the community. They also provide helpful service at the altar. This ministry is open to anyone in grade four or older.
